Water Polo Skills Clinic

You won't want to miss this awesome skills clinic with Paul du Plessis!

North Delta Sunfish is proud to host a Water Polo Clinic on November 6, 2017 @ 7:45 - 10:00 PM Sungod Recreation Centre from 7:45pm-10pm. This Clinic is open to all water polo players, to a maximum of 22 players.

Registration fee is $10. Please bring exact fee to the pool. Please email asap to reserve your spot vpcoaching@ndsunfish.com.  Registration soon to secure your spot in this excellent skill development clinic!

The Clinic has 4 Priorities:

1. Strength of the body (both in and out of water):

  • Emphasis on our body position, and small tricks to use to gain the upper hand whilst still playing the game that we love in a fair manner.

  • Awareness of where our body is at all times, as well as the opposition and the ball.

  • Focusing on leg power, not necessarily how high we can get out of the water but how well we handle ourselves when wrestling for open water.

2. Shooting

  • Arms and leg placement when shooting.

  • Keeping our conversion percentages high.

  • Peripheral must be on high alert when looking for shot opportunities, not always looking for the pass but looking for someone in a better position to convert.

  • Body position when shooting.

  • Recovery on defence if shot is missed.

  • Technique Technique Technique.

3. Fitness

  • We can’t play the sport if we’re not fit.

  • Will test fitness with swim tests and leg tests.

  • Making sure our gameplay doesn’t become lethargic when we’re tired.

  • Keeping awareness up in the pool.

  • Emphasis on getting up and down the pool.

  • We defend with the same intensity that we go on offence with.

4. Role and Responsibility in the Pool

  • Getting to 2m’s etc.

  • Keeping defence guessing on attack.

  • Making sure opposition team is flustered on attack, with heavy marking, or a good drop.

  • Role on defence and attack.
